The information on this page has been put together for you to have quick access to services that may be needed during times of crisis.

These are not emergency services: If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please call 999. Note that Plug In Devon cannot provide crisis help but only signpost to other organisations.

Mental Health

Samaritans: Whatever you’re going through, you can call us any time, from any phone for FREE. Support for you personally, or for advice if you’re concerned about someone else.

Devon Partnership Trust: If you are experiencing mental health distress or worried about someone else’s emotional state – support is available from First Response Service using the number above.

Staying Safe provides vital ‘safety plan’ tools and guidance to help people cope with emotional distress. It also offers ways to help keep people safer from thoughts of harm and suicide, seek support and discover hope of recovery.

Children and Young People

Childline (0800 1111) runs a helpline for children and young people in the U.K. Calls are free and the number won’t show up on your phone bill.

PAPYRUS (0800 068 41 41) is a voluntary organisation supporting teenagers and young adults who are feeling suicidal.

Personal Safety

Splitz: Domestic abuse service, support for anyone frightened of their partner or family member. Their helpline is open on Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm. If a voice mail is left they attempt to respond the same day or the next working day.

Men’s Advice Line: Advice and for men experiencing domestic violence and abuse. they offer emotional support, providing practical advice, signposting to specialist help.

Devon and Cornwall SARC (0300 3034 626) (Sexual Assault Referral Centres) offer medical, practical and emotional support. They have specially trained NHS doctors, nurses and support workers to care for you. Whether you decide to report the assault to the police or not, SARC centres are there to help. SARC services are free to all.

Devon Rape Crisis offer confidential, professional support to survivors of rape, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse in Devon. It doesn’t matter if the abuse took place yesterday or twenty years ago, we are here to help.

If you are concerned about the safety of a child in Devon and want to speak to someone, or if you are a child worried about your own safety, contact the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0345 155 1071 or email mashsecure@devon.gov.uk and give as much information as you can.

Housing & Homelessness

If you are at risk of homelessness or currently homeless, the links below will direct you to local support depending on where you are in Devon. You have the right to make a homeless application and most services have an out of hours phone number for you to contact of you need support outside of office open hours.

Crisis: Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. Crisis do not provide emergency accommodation however we can offer you information on who to contact if you are looking for emergency accommodation.

Financial Support

If you are in financial crisis and live in England or Wales, please call 0808 2082138 for free (open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to talk confidentially with Citizens Advice. They can provide support to maximise your income, help you navigate the benefits system, and identify any additional grants you could be entitled to. If needed, they’ll issue you with a voucher so you can get an emergency food parcel your local foodbank.
