We are committed to delivering consistently high quality, recovery-focused care and treatment for people with mental health and learning disability needs.
Our Together approach ensures that people with lived experience and their families and supports, shape what we do and how we do it. We want to ensure our services are driven the voices of the people who use them
We have an income of around £206 million a year and employ around 3,500 staff. During the course of a year we receive around 74,000 referrals and we are supporting around 26,000 people every month.
What we offer:
We are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives and supporting them in their ongoing recovery. We provide a wide range of mental health and learning disability services for the people of Devon, the wider South West region and nationally, including those for:
Adults with mental health needs
Older people with mental health needs
People with a learning disability
Children and young people with mental health and learning disability needs
People who need a secure environment
People who are feeling low, anxious and struggling to cope
The vast majority of our services are provided in the community, but we also have a range of inpatient (hospital) services for people who need more intensive care and support.
Our frontline teams include psychiatrists, psychologists, psychological wellbeing practitioners, therapists, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, support workers and administrative staff.
We are increasingly striving to recruit people who have personal experience of mental health and learning disability issues as peer support workers.
Our Mindful Employer scheme provides employers with easy access to information, training and support necessary to help them lead from the front on matters of workplace mental health and wellbeing.
How to get support:
The majority of our services are accessed by a referral from GPs, other health professionals or other professional organisations we work closely with.
Service User quote:
“I have no hesitation in saying that I don't think I would be here if it wasn't for the therapists and the art therapy service. I never thought it would be useful for me, but it really was.”
“For the first time in my life, I believe I am capable of getting a part-time job. Without New Leaf I would still be sleeping until midday and hiding from the world, now I feel like I am becoming part of it.”
“I was listened to and given so many different resources to help my anxiety and depression. I was so low a year ago, but with amazing support from my therapist I feel more and more myself every day. Thank you TALKWORKS.”
